Sisters of the Sea

A portrait series capturing the flourishing community of female surfers in the small coastal town of Lennox Head, Northern NSW Australia. Surfing has long been a male dominated sport, but the tides are changing with now more than one third of females accounting for the Australian surfing population. This community of surfers in Lennox Head form a rite of passage and sisterhood that includes grandmothers, mothers, daughters, sisters, partners and friends. This body of work focuses on the females that form this community and the waves and familiar landscapes that unite them.
