CHILDREN OF THE CIRCUS

It all began with the theft of a miniature pony.  I was sent to cover the story for the Newcastle Herald when I met the weber family of Webers Circus. I have always been fascinated with the circus and I am sure that as a wide-eyed child I would have watched Natalie Weber perform under the big top with her parents’ circus.  My long time fascination continued to the point of hosting a circus themed party for my 30th birthday (that’s another story!) Therefore covering the theft of the pony, Thunder, was just a natural progression to meeting and photographing the children of the circus, who are completely mesmerizing. Being born into a circus is being born into a unique way of life; an instant life on the road and performances can start as early as 1 year old. The children of the circus are the future of survival of the traditional family Australian Circus.

Meet Wonona, Dakota, Wonita, Tahlia and Tianni Weber. True circus stars.

Oh …Thunder was found and returned to Webers Circus unharmed!
